Hi Michael, The Step-1X is for exit only and typically used with a deck entry. To convert it to Entry you would need to purchase a compatible entry ladder such as the 8000X or check out our other entry/exit systems.

These steps are weighed down with sand, which will need to be purchased separately. A total of 40lbs is required.

These steps are weighed down with 40lbs of sand which is purchased separately. To remove the step start by disconnecting both of the mounting brackets from the deck. From inside the pool position one person on each side of the step, grip the bottom of the side panels and carefully lift the step high enough to start tilting back on the pool deck. With most of the weight off the step, continue lifting and tilting back on to deck. Leave the step lying on it back edges for a couple of hours to drain the water. Once the water is drained stand the step up. It is not necessary to store the steps inside, it can be set aside until you decide to open your pool in spring. Note: Do not lift the steps by the handrails, posts, or top tread as it may break or detach due to the weight of the sand and water.

The weight limit for Step-1X is 400lbs.

The step needs to be filled with sand to prevent floating, you will need about 40lbs. Please see the installation manual under the item's resources tab (step 8) for instructions on weighing it down.
